NEW BRITAIN – A grand opening for Central Connecticut State University’s new on-campus child care center will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The event will feature statements by CCSU’s President Zulma Toro, Child Care Center Director Kelly McCarthy and Commissioner for the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood Beth Bye.

The ceremony will also offer musical performances by children who attend the center, an official ribbon-cut and group tours for visitors.

CCSU’s care center will be available to registered student-parents at no additional cost with the help of university grants that have funded the center.

“The Mission of the CCSU Drop-In Child Care Center is to provide high-quality, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate educational experiences for children ages 3-12 years old, that is easily accessible and supportive to the needs of our CCSU students, faculty, and staff,” CCSU’s website said.

According to the press release, the studies will align “with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards and Connecticut Preschool Curriculum Framework.”

The ceremony will be held in a tent at the lower level of Carroll Hall, directly outside of the center. Parking will be accessible off of Paul Manafort Drive in Lot G.

For those that are unable to attend the event in-person, a media feed will be offered.
