NEW BRITAIN - Tebucky Jones’ position as the head coach of the New Britain football program is safe for the time being.
Sources told the Herald Wednesday that Jones would be returning for the upcoming season. There was speculation in May that the head coach could be replaced. The school district said at the time all of the coaching positions at the high school were under review with New Britain taking applications from both inside and outside the district.
New Britain has already hired a new boys basketball coach in Kurt Reis on Monday and is currently looking to fill its girls basketball and wrestling vacancies. Other positions could soon be following.
For Jones, it will now be his seventh season (31-30 record) leading the Hurricanes.
