New Britain wrestling beats Berlin for first time

BERLIN - New Britain wrestling coach Jordan Jacquo’s first win leading the program will certainly be a memorable one.

For the first time in the rivalry between the Hurricanes and Berlin, New Britain came out with the win.

Oran Burnett sealed the 39-37 victory for New Britain Wednesday night when he defeated Matt Pampuro 10-7 in the 220-pound match. It win also happened to be the first of Burnett’s varsity career.

Tyler Barner got his first varsity for the Redcoats after pinning Joseph Padilla in the 120-pound weight class.

In total, there were seven pins in the meet. New Britain came away with three, while Berlin had four.
