NEWINGTON - Scoring as of late appears to be the Newington-Berlin ice hockey team’s specialty.

Fresh off an 11-0 win Saturday, the Indians didn’t miss much of a beat Wednesday night as they beat Shepaug-Litchfield-Thomaston-Nonnewaug 6-1.

And the win was mostly thanks to another strong start as Newington-Berlin began the game with a four-goal first period.

Matt Lavoie netted the first goal of the night and was soon followed by Joe Fogarty, Mark Sweitzer and Andrew Graham.

The Indians added two more goals - one in each the second and third periods. Pat Doherty provided the score to bring the score up to 5-0 before Caven Brenner scored Shepaug’s lone goal of the night.

But Graham netted his second score of the night in the final period. Adam Belair saves for of five shots in net for the Indians, who managed 53 shots in the game.
