NEW BRITAIN - In a game that came down to the final minute, it ended up being a sluggish third quarter that decided Friday night’s game between the New Britain and Wethersfield boys basketball teams.
Up 24-20 at the half, the Hurricanes were outscored just 11-7 over the third, but it proved to be enough as they fell 42-40.
Thameen Dupreee led New Britain with a game-high 15 points, including three 3s. None of the Hurricanes other scorers reached double figures. Kareem Brown finished second on the team with nine points.
Michael Mozzicato, meanwhile, scored a team-high 12 points for the Eagles.
After being outscored 12-10 over the first eight minutes of play, New Britain wrapped up the first half with a 14-10 second quarter.
Both teams managed just nine points each in the final period.
The Hurricanes are now 2-2 on the season and will play New London this afternoon.
