NEW BRITAIN - As the weather begins to warm, that also means golf courses will be opening back up.
That will be the case for Stanley Municipal Golf Course, which will have its official season opening on Monday at 9 a.m.
“We are very excited about the upcoming golfing season here at Stanley Golf Course,” Recreation Commission Chairman Patrick Dorsey said in a statement. “Both our returning and new customers got to experience our top-class facilities last year and we’re looking forward to having them all back in 2021.”
Mayor Erin Stewart will hit the first ball at 9 a.m. and will be followed by Dorsey and golf professional Howie Friday.
The starting time procedure for Monday will be first come, first served. The official opening will include free coffee/pastries provided by the Back Nine Tavern.
Weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, the course will open weekdays at 8 a.m. and weekends at 7 a.m. The starting procedure will again be first come, first served. Tee-time reservations will begin on April 1. The 19 station, covered, enclosed and heated driving range will be open seven days a week, closing at 7 p.m.
“Obviously many things were negatively impacted in 2020 in dealing with the coronavirus, however, one bright light was our beautiful Stanley Golf Course had a record-setting year,” Stewart said in a statement. “The golf industry is soaring right now and we expect another banner year in 2021.”
