New Britain softball falls on road to Wethersfield

WETHERSFIELD - The Golden Hurricanes went on the road to Wethersfield and the home Eagles (10-5) touched the plate 18 times in their four innings.

The mercy Rule came into play after the fifth with a final of 18-2.

New Britain (2-10) went down 1-2-3 in the first while Wethersfield played long ball with a pair of of homers, six hits and left two stranded.

In the top of the third, the Hurricanes got a triple, two singles and benefited from an Eagles error that resulted in two runs, but that was the sum of the offense.

The Canes were held hitless and scoreless in four frames while their opposition scored in every inning, taking advantage when called upon with 22 hits.

New Britain’s next game is at home today, Friday the 13th, against Hartford public under the lights at 7 p.m.
