NEWINGTON - Police searched a local department store but found nothing after a bomb threat was called in Thursday afternoon.
Someone called the Target at 3265 Berlin Turnpike at around 1:18 p.m. claiming a bomb was in the building, Sgt. Christopher Perry said. The store called police and evacuated any customers and employees, Perry said.
Local police with the assistance of the Hartford Police Bomb Squad and a Hartford canine searched the store but didn’t find anything suspicious, Perry said.
The store re-opened at about 3:15 p.m. Police are now investigating who called in the bomb threat, Perry said.
