Here’s a look at events taking place in and around New Britain this weekend:


NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain Public Library will host a look at witchcraft trials, a serial murderer, a bizarre vagabond and other tales unique to the Nutmeg State in “It Really Happened in Connecticut,” from 10 to 11 a.m.

Historian Diana Ross McCain will discuss these memorable stories in a free program in the Community Room of the main branch, 20 High St.

NEW BRITAIN -Central Connecticut State University’s Dance Education Program and Dancentral will host “Crossing Paths: A Contemporary Dance Concert,” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Welte Hall on the CCSU campus.

“Crossing Paths” is free and open to the public, though donations are accepted. For more information, call 860-832-2167.

NEW BRITAIN - The Connecticut Trio presents “Ultimate Tchaikovsky” as part of the Sunday Concert Series from 3 to 4 p.m. at the New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington St.

NEWINGTON - The Newington Children Theatre Co. this weekend presents “Jack and the Magic Beans,” a version of “Jack and the Beanstalk” that returns to the original English source, “The History of Jack Spriggins and the Enchanted Bean.”

Tickets are $12 for adults ($15 at the door) and $10 for seniors, students and children ($12 at the door). Performances are set for today at at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
