NEWINGTON – The parks and recreation department is throwing back-to-back pool parties next week. On Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Mill Pond and Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Churchill, games and music will occupy the pool.
Games include a race to put a t-shirt on a block of ice, relay races in the pool, a race to gather pennies and candies that have sunk to the bottom of the water and more. A game where a watermelon is greased up and people race to get it to the other side of the pool will be available exclusively at the Churchill party.
All ages are welcome to participate. A new game will take place every half hour. The event starts at 8:45 a.m. on both days with the first game taking place at 9 a.m. Festivities end at noon on both days.
Entry is free for all with a Newington pool pass or proof of Newington residency. For all those tourists, they’ll have to pay $5 if they’re an adult and $3 if they’re a child or a senior.
Mill Pond Park is located at 123 Garfield St. Churchill Park is located at 1991 Main St.
