'Taste of Germany' at Hartford Saengerbund continues today

Taste of Germany beckons to hungry guests

The “Taste of Germany” culinary festival continues today at the Hartford Saengerbund, at 719 North Mountain Road in Newington. The dishes available to sample include a variety of German wursts (sausages), wiener schnitzel, leberkäse (veal loaf), spaetzle (noodles), sauerkraut, red cabbage, hot pretzels, the Saengerbund’s famous potato pancakes, homemade desserts and more.

Beverages include a selection of German beers as well as a variety wine, spirits and soft drinks. There will be live music by The Adlers and The Vagabonds and all ages are welcome. Admission is $1, food and drink sold separately.

The Hartford Saengerbund was established in 1858 as a German-American singing society and social club. Its motto is “Treu Dem Deutschen Lied,” or “True to the German Song.” The public is welcome at all of its events.
