NEWINGTON – Two Newington residents and a Hartford man were arrested by federal authorities Thursday after a raid at their Maple Hill Avenue home earlier that day.

All three were charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, federal authorities said.

Wilson Velez, 32, of 285 Maple Hill Avenue, has been detained with a bond hearing scheduled for Dec. 13, Luis Santiago 18, who was living at the Newington house with Velez was released on a $25,000 bond, and Franklyn Nieves, 55, of Hartford, was released on a $50,000 bond.

The affidavit outlining the charges is sealed.

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed up at the house early Thursday and conducted a search. The family was allowed to leave after FBI agents concluded the search. Agents also searched multiple locations in Hartford, police in that city said.
