Newington concert series continues Thursday with country band

NEWINGTON - Local country music fans of all ages are invited to a concert by the Coyote River Band tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mill Pond Park pavilion.

The show is the fifth of 13 in the Newington Parks and Recreation Department’s Edythe and Harry Mandell 2018 Summer Concert Series.

According to a press release, the Coyote River Band offers dynamic versions of modern country, classic rock and dance music their fans know and love. The band has played throughout the Tri-State Area.

Another reason to stop by is the Newington Parks and Recreation Department’s Concert Cookie Giveaway. Free cookies, provided by Stop & Shop, will be passed out during the concert, but supplies are limited.

The new snack shack will be open for business during the summer shows. Offerings include soft-serve ice cream, popcorn, French fries, hot dogs and chicken tenders.

Upcoming concerts in the series include Rock & Roll Night, featuring Rock Solid Alibi, on Thursday, June 28; Swing Night, featuring Simply Swing, on Thursday, July 5; Beatles Night, with Ticket to Ride, on Thursday, July 12; and Jazz Night, with Airborne, on Wednesday, July 18. All concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m.
