NEWINGTON - The Newington Parks and Recreation Department’s Swing Night concert is swinging into town on Thursday, July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mill Pond Park’s Data-Mail Inc. Pavilion.

The concert will feature Connecticut swing orchestra Simply Swing, with vocals from Vivian LaRosa, as they power through classics like Etta James’ “At Last” and “Come Fly With Me” by Frank Sinatra.

Sing and dance along to Simply Swing’s renditions of other swing hits such as “I’ve Got Rhythm” by George Gershwin and the Andrew Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” all under the dictation of Joe LaRosa.

The concert will also feature treats and snacks from the new snack shack. Staff members will be passing out coupons for the snack shack that can only be used on July 5.

Furthermore, everyone is encouraged to head across the field to watch the Newington Parks and Recreation Adult Cornhole League as swing music continues to jam on in the background. 20 teams will be competing in the league.

This concert is the seventh of 13 concerts in the Edythe and Harry Mandell 2018 Summer Concert Series. The next concert will be Beatles Night with tribute band Ticket to Ride on Thursday, July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m at the same location.
