NEW BRITAIN - The Children’s Charities Tennis Classic is returning for its 39th annual tournament.

Chairperson and founder Don Lukowksi announced the tournament will be held Friday, Aug. 4 though Sunday, Aug. 6 at the Don Davis Tennis Courts at Walnut Hill Park in New Britain.

The Classic will benefit the Pediatric Autism Unit of the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain. During the tournament’s 38 years, over $150,000 has been raised for various pediatric charities in New Britain.

“This is a fun, family-friendly tournament with players of all levels participating,” Lukowski said. “It’s a great event and the Pediatrics Autism Unit of the Hospital for Special Care does much to help those young people with special needs. I hope that many young players turn out and support our cause. At our tournament, it’s not how great your tennis game is, it’s how great your heart is.”

The event, a Jr. Charity Tennis Tournament, is open to all Jr. players ages 10 through 25 with 10 divisions, both singles and doubles, and includes a parent/child doubles division.

Entry fees are $20 for singles and $20 for doubles teams with 100 percent of all entry fees going to the hospital. The first 50 players will receive a free tournament t-shirt.
