STAFF REPORT

The Newington field hockey team will be participating in the Charity 5K Run/Walk at the Hartford Marathon today.

The Indians will be running in honor of Newington resident, family member and family friend of the team that lost her life on Sept. 21, 2017.

Patricia “Patti” Procaccini Torbicki passed away due to domestic violence. In addition to being a dedicated and respected Sunday School teacher at Mill Pond Church, Torbicki was a vocalist in their Worship Group.

She was described by others as a vibrant, beautiful and selfless person who always put others needs ahead of hers. She leaves behind her son Donovan who is also a student at Newington High School.

In honor of Torbicki, the Newington field hockey team will be participating in the marathon to raise awareness for domestic violence and help lower the expenses of college for Donovan. Anybody participating is encouraged to wear Torbicki’s favorite color, purple.
