NEW BRITAIN - The boys volleyball state tournaments are set and both of the local teams are going in with the expectations to contend for titles after earning high seeds.
Newington (18-2) earned the top seed in the Class M tournament.
The Indians received a bye in the first round and will host the winner of No. 8 Farmington (9-8) and No. 9 Daniel Hand (10-9) in the second round June 1 at 6 p.m.
Southington (15-3) earned the No. 5 seed in the Class L tournament and will host No. 12 Shelton (10-10) in the first round of the tournament. If the Blue Knights win they will take on the winner of No. 4 East Hartford (17-2) and No. 13 Glastonbury (8-11).
