NEW HAVEN - The last time the Newington co-op ice hockey team played at Yale University’s Ingalls Rink, the Indians hoisted a trophy.

T here wouldn’t be any celebrating Monday night.

Lyman Hall/Haddam-Killingworth/Coginchaug’s Michael O’Toole scored the game-winning goal with 1:14 left to end Newington’s season in the Division III semifinals with a 4-3 loss.

It was the ending to what was a back-and-forth game all night.

After a scoreless first period, Justin Roberts found the back of the net on an assist by Tyler Ralph to make it 2-1 in favor of the Trojans. Ethan Ranger then connected with his brother, Kilian at the 8:08 mark of the third quarter to tie the game up.

Nick Deriu gave Newington its first lead of the night with the go-ahead with five minutes left in the third, but the Indians were unable to stop O’Toole from sealing the win for the Lyman Hall co-op.
