George E. Richardson, 83, of Newington, loving husband for 52 years to Ernethia “Jane” Richardson, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Born in Orlando, Fla., he was the son of the late Clinton and Ann Ruth (Walker) Richardson. After George graduated from New Britain High School in 1951, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country honorably during the Korean War. He was a talented athlete and played semi-pro football before going to work at Stanley Works as a machinist where he retired after many years.

In addition to his beloved “Jane,” George was predeceased by his three brothers, Clinton Jr., Clyde and Samuel.

A lover of God’s word, the Bible, George was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on April 28, 1974. George always said the happiest times in his life were those spent serving side by side with his wife Jane, volunteering and sharing Bible truths with others. A very kind and gentle man, George found it a pleasure to serve as a Ministerial Servant for many years in the Newington Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

A Memorial Service for George will be held Saturday, April 15, at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 551 Church St, Newington. He will be laid to rest privately in the State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown. Newington Memorial Funeral Home has care of arrangements. To leave a message of sympathy, please visit .
