Alla (Jazkevich) Hamisevich, widow of the late Eugene Hamisevich, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2017. Born in 1929 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Nikolaj and Anastasia Jazkevich. At the end of World War II Alla’s family left Ukraine and lived in Germany before settling in New Britain, Conn., where she married Eugene and they started their family. They were active parishioners at St. Alexis Church in Clinton and Holy Trinity Church in New Britain.
Alla was an accomplished pianist, studying at the Augsburg Conservatory in Germany. She enjoyed listening to opera music and polka dancing. She felt it was very important that her daughters have music lessons and be fluent in Russian. She found joy in gardening, and cooking for family and friends. She made sure everyone had some goodies to take home with them.
Alla will be dearly missed by her daughters, Eugenia Sullivan and her husband, Michael, and Elizabeth Hamisevich. She also leaves her dear cousin, Valentina Tinyszin and her family. She was grateful for the numerous friends and neighbors in Westbrook who helped her in her later years.
