Leonard (Lenny) McCandless, 67, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after a very courageous fight battling lung cancer. Leonard made his grand entrance into this world being born in a police car during a blizzard in New Britain, Conn., on Nov. 28, 1949. He was the son of the late Robert and Mae (Chute) McCandless, who raised him in New Britain.

Upon Honorable Discharge, he worked for SNET in New Britain from 1970-1996 when he retired as a Business I&R Technician. As a tradesman, he was always offering his services to help others. He lived his life to the very fullest each and every day. Lenny loved his friends and family, who always came first in his life. He enjoyed hitting the links, telling a good joke, and catching sunrays at the beach with a nice Crown Royal on the rocks in hand.
