Stanley J. Bedus, 94, of Newington died on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Gryzenia) Bedus for 68 years. Born in Newington, he was a lifelong resident and a member of St. Mary’s Church. Stanley graduated from Newington High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was employed by Atlantic Machine Tool for 40 years and was a member of the Polish American Club and a lifelong member of Indian Hill Country Club.

Besides his wife, Florence, he leaves his two sons and daughters-in-law: James and Maureen Bedus, Thomas and Donna Bedus, all of Old Saybrook; his daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Ted Fravel of Newington; four grandchildren: Stephanie, Laura, Jenna and T.J., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters: Sally, Grace, Helen, Florence, and his three brothers: Joseph, Edward and John.

Family and friends are invited to call at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church. He will be laid to rest, with military honors, in West Meadow Cemetery.
