Mary S. “Mamie” Hormis, 94, of Kensington passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Joseph and Goolnar (Karam) Hormis, she lived in Kensington since 1991. A graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1941, Mary worked at Stanley Tool in New Britain for 42 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in New Britain and was a volunteer at the “Little Store” at the Hospital for Special Care for over 25 years.

Surviving is her sister, Ann Sheldon of Kensington; five nieces, Joanne Chicker and her husband, Tim, of East Berlin; Debra Kusy of Kensington; Marianne Chapman and her husband, Brian, also of Kensington; Dori Hormis and Karen Pyne, both of Newington; six grandnieces and grandnephews, Melissa and Jonathan Chicker; Ron and Rachel Chapman; Sarah Pasquini and Eric Pyne; as well as four great grandnephews, Jack, James, Maxwell and Jonathan. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by a brother, Samuel Hormis and two sisters, Jennie Munyon and Judy Kusy.

Funeral services are Saturday, July 29, 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 68 Main St., East Berlin. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
