Stanley J. Nizolek, 98, of New Britain, widower of Mary E. (Hodge) Nizolek, died Monday at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. Born in Stamford, the son of the late Stanley and the late Mary (Bird) Nizolek, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, and was a tool and die maker at local companies. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond Nizolek and his wife, Willa, and David Nizolek and his wife, Huang Tran, all in Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Melvin Yellin of New York City; five grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Nizolek, Katharine Hodge Yellin, Douglas Yellin and his wife, Sheri, and Nancy Silverman; three great-grandchildren, Jonah and Jessie Silverman, and Pepper Yellin, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in New Britain. Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the departure to church.
