Jadwiga (Guziewicz) Musial-Ciesielski, 89, of New Britain, loving wife of Waldemar Ciesielski, died on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in Poland, daughter of the late Jozef and Leokadia Guziewicz, growing up, Jadwiga resided in multiple countries around the world seeking amnesty due to the perils of war. She lived in Siberia, Kazakhstan, India, England, and finally settled in the United States, making New Britain her permanent home. Jadwiga was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in New Britain and one of the original members of the Polonia Paderewski choir for 65 years.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her sister, Kazimiera Ostromecki; her stepdaughter, Jolanta Gorecka; nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of close friends who were like family to her. Jadwiga was predeceased by her first husband, Jan Musial; her siblings, Walter, Czeslaw, and Francziszek Guziewicz and Helena Olesiak.
Her funeral service will begin at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St. New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain immediately following the Mass. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burritt Hill.
