Jadwiga Sadowski

Jadwiga Sadowski, 88, of New Britain and formerly of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, in New Britain.

Born on Sept. 19, 1928, in Warsaw, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Franciska Zielinski. A beloved mother and grandmother, Jadwiga enjoyed spending time with her family and preparing them traditional Polish dishes. Her leisure activities were knitting and socializing at the Plainville Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Andrew Sadowski and his wife Krystyna of Avon and Walter Sadowski and his wife Karyl of Newington; her daughter, Jolanta Swiatek and her husband Harry of Whitehall, Mich.; her grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Allison and Melissa; as well as six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her brother, Jan Zielinski, and her sister, Lucyna Szulc.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington, from 11 a.m. to noon. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at noon with the Rev. Melanie Enfield officiating. Burial will be held privately. The family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Lake in New Britain for the loving care shown to Jadwiga. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
