Catherine Marguerite (Siddons) Petillo (Kay), 87, of New Britain passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Samuel A. Petillo. She was born and grew up in the area of Portland, Maine, and was a longtime resident of New Britain, daughter of the late Harold and Muriel (Stuart) Siddons. She attended Portland, Maine, schools and graduated from Windham High School. She worked for the Portland Printing Press of Portland, Maine, and also wrote rhymes and messages for a greeting card company in Maine, later working at Landers, Frary & Clark of New Britain before she settled into raising five children as a stay-at-home Mom.

Catherine enjoyed family gatherings, knitting, sewing and crochet, and worked countless hours to provide her family and friends with handmade dresses, suits, hats and scarves as well as slippers, Christmas decorations, quilts and home décor items. She was an avid bowler, bowling for the New Britain Bowl Morning Doves Ladies League as well as additional bowling leagues in New Britain and Plainville. She had a green thumb, growing flowers and household plants and a love of animals, particularly cats, dogs and birds and an insatiable love of food.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Floyd and her husband, David; her son, Peter Petillo and his wife, Kathleen; her son, Sam Petillo; her daughter, Carmen Muszynski and her husband, Michael; and her son, Antonio Petillo; her 11 grandchildren, Charlotte Domanski Alexander, Jeffrey Petillo and his wife, Jaime (Bronki) Petillo, Jennifer Petillo-Keller and her husband, Christopher, Valene-Lynne Petillo, Christopher Petillo and his wife, Jen, Eric Muszynski, Justin Muszynski, Nicholas Petillo and his fiancée, Samantha Russo, Christina Petillo, Kimberly Kasulis, and Tammy Ranney ; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and dear extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Siddons of Maine.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Catherine’s funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St Mary Cemetery.
