Ben P. Wielechowski

Ben P. Wielechowski, 96, of New Britain passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017. Born in Dudley, Mass., he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Wielechowski. Ben was a graduate of New Britain High School Class of 1939 and later the Morse School of Business in 1942 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. He was employed by the State of CT Department of Labor, Hospital Cost and then the Office of Policy and Management until his retirement in 1987 after 40 years of dedicated service. Ben was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. He was a member of the Spartans Veterans’ Athletic Club all of his adult life and served as Treasurer for a number of those years.

He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Johnson and her husband, Robert, of New Britain; two grandchildren, Kimberly Hume and her husband, William, of Princeton, Mass., and David Johnson and his wife, Victoria, of Berlin; and his five most treasured great-grandchildren, Calvin, Abigail, Elyssa, Hayden and Vanessa as well as several nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Pileski) Wielechowski; his brother, Edward Wielechowski and his two sisters, Bertha Karwowski and Gladys Paczkowski.

Funeral Services will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 from the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, New Britain.
