On Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, Boleslaw Zak, 94, was called to eternal life surrounded by his loving family at their Southington residence. Born in Poland on April 14, 1923, he was the son of the late Pawel and Katarzyna (Hess) Zak. He came to the United States in 1956, settling to New Britain, where he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Fafnir Bearing, giving over 30 years of dedicated service. For recreation, he was a member of the Pulaski Democratic Club and was an avid pool shark. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna (Kunicki) Zak and a son, Gerard Zak.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughter, Maryann Niemierowko and her husband, Chester, of Southington; his grandsons, Gerard, William, and Christopher Niemierowko, a niece and several nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call for visitation Friday, Oct. 13, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, CT 06053. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Rites of Committal will follow the Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
