Jozef Marcisz, 86, of Forestville died on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Irena (Gromak) Marcisz for 67 years. He was born in Poland to the late Michal and Bronislawa (Grzymkowska) Marcisz and worked on the family farm and later became the manager of his village’s farming co-op. In 1966, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in New Britain. He retired from B&F Mfg. as a machinist/tool maker after many years of service. Jozef was a very independent, self-taught hard worker and handyman who loved fishing, building projects and home renovations not only for his own home but for family members as well. His strong work ethic and perseverance to provide for his family will always be remembered.
In addition to his wife, Jozef leaves behind his children, Ted Marcisz and his wife, Maria, of Farmington, Anna Hayes of York, Maine, Zdzislaw Marcisz and his companion, Maren McCarthy, of Danville, Calif., and Peter Marcisz and his wife, Caroline, of San Mateo, Calif.; his grandchildren, Elise, Jessica, Gregory, Natalie, Greta, Stella, and Peyton and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will begin Monday, Nov. 13, at 8:45 a.m. from the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. He will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday, Nov. 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Burritt Hill.
