Carmine Simonetti, 76, of Naples, Italy, and longtime resident of Newington, Conn., and loving husband for 52 years of Angela (DiDomenico) Simonetti, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, of a sudden heart attack at UConn Medical Center. He spent his career, 48 years, as a master mason, for P&M Construction in Plainville, Conn. He took pride in all of his work and he created works of art throughout the state. He enjoyed relaxing with his wife and friends in Florida. For those who knew him, he could tell the best stories and would make you laugh and smile. When it came to work, he set an example for all those around about what it means to work hard.
He is survived by two sons, Ciro (Daniel) Simonetti and his wife, Maryann, of Newington, and Bruno Simonetti and his wife, Lisa, of Bolton; five grandchildren, Marissa, Brianna, Maxsimo, Matthew and Sophia; also by his brother, Antonio Simonetti of Kensington; two brothers, Salvatore and John Simonetti of Italy and his sister, Rita Marotta of Italy; in-laws, Antonio DiDomenico and his wife, Regina, of Meriden, Pino DiDomenico and his wife, Sarina, of New Britain, Frank DiDomenico and his wife, Marzena, of Newington, Angelo DiDomenico and his wife, Connie, of Kensington, and Maria (DiDomenico) Acerra and her husband, Mario, of New Britain; his nieces and nephew, Sal DiDomenico and his wife, Shari, of Meriden, Anna (DiDomenico) Motta and her husband, Mike, of Florida and Maria (Simonetti) Calvert and her husband, Steve, of Kensington. He also leaves other nieces, nephews and relatives both in the United States and in Italy whom he loved very much. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Ciro and Maria Simonetti of Naples, Italy; his sister, Vincenza DiDomenico of New Britain and his brother-in-law, Gino DiDomenico of New Britain.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, 9 a.m. at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church St., Newington. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will held Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
