Henry A. 'Bob' Snell

PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Henry A. “Bob” Snell, 81, departed this life Sat., Nov. 18, 2017 in JFK Medical Center, Edison, N.J. Born in Brundidge, ALA., he lived in Waterbury, Conn., before moving to Plainfield over 40 years ago. It was in Waterbury that he found himself in the music business. Bob, as he was known, learned to play the drums with friends and played them for hours in the park. He was intrigued by Latin music and mastered it. He was the leader of many bands, playing all types of music which included Jazz, R&B, Polka and Funk. His mission was to touch the many lives that he mentored.

Upon moving to N.J., he was employed as a mechanic with Leaseway Trucking Co. in Port Newark, N.J., before retiring. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Sheila M. Snell; a daughter, Dayna R. Snell; a stepson, Kevin J. Jackson; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Patricia Savage and Virginia Duckworth; 6 brothers: John E. Stenson, Sr., Gregory L. Stenson (Meloria), Ronald Stenson, Willie L. (Bevlyn), Ronald E. and Henry E. Snell; his mother in law, Gladys Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Mon., 11 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church, 324 Monroe Ave., Plainfield, N.J., preceded by viewing at 10 a.m. Arrangements by Brown’s Funeral Home, www.brownsfuneralhome.net .
