Jan Gorski

Jan Gorski, 81, widow of Jadwiga (Komendant) Gorski, of Farmington, passed away on Jan. 6, 2018 at UConn Medical Center, Farmington, with family by his side.

Jan was born in Czerwonka, Poland, on March 23, 1936, and was son to the late Antoni and Jozefa (Wasowicz) Gorski. Jan will be remembered for his love of farming in Poland. He then married Jadwiga (Komendant) on Feb. 4, 1961, and they made their home in Czerwonka, Poland, before immigrating and settling in New Britain. Jan was also a retiree of Creed Monarch and employed by Capital Cleaning at UConn, before settling in Plainville and then Farmington.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church as well as involved in the Sacred Heart Church Choir.

He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with family, especially singing and the time spent on the beach with his grandchildren.

Jan will be most remembered for his kindness in helping people, being a special caregiver to those in need and devotion to his family.

Jan is survived and will be dearly missed by; daughter Marianna and Bogdan Dudziuk and kids of Dabrowa, Poland: Sons Slawomir and Iwona Gorski and kids of Southington: Czeslaw Gorski of Middletown: Jozef and Danuta Gorski and kids of Newington: daughter Alicja and Mariusz Jedrychowski and kids of Farmington: sons Tadeusz and Iwona Gorski and kids of Southington: Tomasz and Monika Gorski and kids of Farmington: and a brother-in-law, Marian and Celina Komendant; three sisters: Marianna Mieldzioc, Jawiga Kuczynko, Honorata Gorska and brother Jozef Gorski and many nieces and nephews. Also grandchildren: Rafal, Justyna, Karolina Dudziuk: Jakub, Szymon, Daria Gorski: Isabella, Samantha Gorski: Julia, Victoria, Diana Jedrychowski, Veronika, Natalia, David Gorski: Aleksander Gorski.

Jan’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of John Dempsey Hospital for their compassionate care.

Funeral services will begin Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. for a brief gathering at New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by his funeral liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
