Ralph L. Meyer

Ralph L. Meyer, 86, of Southington, husband of Dottie Meyer, passed away on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.

Born in Chicago, he was the son of the late Paul and Christine (Faulker) Meyer. Ralph was a former resident of Kensington, moving to Southington in 1988. He attended Berlin schools, graduated from Berlin High School and attended Brown University. Ralph was the former owner of Vaill & Meyer Paint Store in New Britain and later Berlin. He was a former member of the Berlin Lions Club and a former member of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce. Ralph loved his family and was a lifelong lover of dogs. He enjoyed playing cards and reading, especially history.

Surviving are his wife, Dottie (Albert) Meyer; three children and their spouses, Jane and Frank Carlozzi of Farmington, Tom and Nancy Meyer of Putney, Vt., and Dan and Alison Meyer of Marietta, Ga.; his brother, Charles Meyer of Kensington; five grandchildren and spouses, Brian Carlozzi, Amanda and Phil Berry, Jessica and Ryan Crandall, Chris and Jennifer Meyer, Stephanie and Pat Ericson; five great-grandchildren, Larson Crandall, Jaxon Crandall, Willa Meyer, Porter Ericson and Everett Ericson; and several nieces and nephews. Ralph has also been one of the Albert family for the past 64 years, with many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain, with a memorial service to be held at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
