Regina (Zytkiewicz) Wolodkowicz, of New Britain, died peacefully on her 93rd birthday, Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jan Wolodkowicz.
Born in Poland, daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Snopkowska) Zytkiewicz, she moved to the United States in 1965, residing in New Britain for most of her life. Mrs. Wolodkowicz was a devoted Catholic. She found great strength in her faith and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and its Rosary Guild. She was formerly employed by Atlantic Machine Tool Works Inc., Newington, prior to her retirement from Karen Enterprise, New Britain. She loved flowers and gardening and was gifted at sewing. She enjoyed arts and craft projects and attending summer concerts at the parks.
A loving and devoted mother, she leaves her daughter, Lucy Wolodkowicz of New Britain. She also leaves step-great- grandchildren, Isabella, Roxanna, David and Jordan; a brother, Edmund Zytkiewicz in Poland; a sister, Wanda Daglis of New Britain; and nieces and nephews here and in Poland, especially Jen Bielanos, Albin Marcis, Mary Hammett, Heddy Fusco and Ted Daglis. She was predeceased by her son, Jeff Wolodkowicz. Her family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the staff of Marian Heights Adult Day Care and From the Heart Home Care, especially her caregivers Ania Tanski and Yuliia Danchak, for the kind and compassionate care they provided.
Regina’s funeral service will begin on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 8:30 a.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Burritt Hill.
