Marianna (Halas) Sidor, 91, wife of the late Jan Sidor, passed away suddenly, Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, with her family by her side. Born in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Michal and Maria (Sidor) Halas. Marianna’s pride and joy was her farm in Poland where she and her family raised hops. She worked sunrise to sunset, and was extremely handy. Her hobbies were working on crafts, knitting and embroidery. She was the best teacher to her daughters and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She loved her family and dedicated her life to her daughters and their families. She was a great mom, a wonderful cook and always made sure everyone was well fed.
Marianna leaves her three daughters, Alfreda Zderkiewicz, Czeslawa Zygnerski, and Zofia Gil and her husband, Stanislaw; her brother, Stanislaw Halas and his wife, Lucyna; her grandchildren, George Zderkiewicz, Eva Clark and her husband, Scott, Margaret DeBernardi, Barbara Casparino, Monica Gil and Gregory Gil and his wife, Von Lee; his great-grandchildren, Lidia, Matthew, Amanda, Caitlin and her husband, Matt, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Brookley, Audrey and Grant. She also leaves many nieces and nephews in Poland. Besides her husband, Marianna was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Jessica Zderkiewicz and her three sisters and a brother in Poland. Her family wishes to thank Maryja Serkies for the wonderful care of their parents.
Her funeral will begin Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Cross Church, New Britain. She will be lovingly laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain, with her husband. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home.
