On Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, Jozefa Kirej, 95, was called to eternal life in New Britain. Born on Oct. 10, 1922, in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Jozef and Antonina Marcinczyk. She came to the United States in 1966 settling to New Britain where she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanislaw Kirej and a son, Roman Kirej. Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children, Stella Kozlowski and her husband, Bernard, of New Britain, Anna Lichaj and her husband, John, of Colchester, Frank Kirej and his, wife, Barbara of Burlington, seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her life and funeral will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 16, with a 10 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church. Rites of Committal will follow the Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call for visitation Friday prior to the Mass from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St, New Britain.
