Kristin B. (Nightingale) DeMaio, 43, of Kensington, Conn., loving wife of the late Michael DeMaio, passed away on March 5, 2018. Born in Manchester, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Warren and Mary (Doyle) Nightingale. Kristin was a graduate of Manchester Central High School in Manchester, N.H., Class of 1992 and a graduate of Keene State College in Keene, N.H., Class of 1997. Kristin was a resident of Kensington and a member of St. Paul’s Church. She was a registered Dietetic Technician at Hartford Hospital where she loved her work, her colleagues, and helping people. Kristin had a strong and generous spirit, working hard to build a new life with her children after the heartbreaking loss of her husband Michael. Always quick with her wit, she brought laughter into the lives of her friends and family, sharing a kind thought with others who were going through difficult times or illness, always believing that someone else needed more help than herself. Kristin loved the ocean, spending endless summer days on the New Hampshire seacoast with her children, family and friends. She brought the love of the ocean to her son Michael and daughters Kailee and Taylor. She loved to read, share a glass of wine with a friend, or share new healthy recipes she had come across. Surrounding Kristin through her difficult and courageous battle with Ewing Sarcoma was her extensive community network from which the support, love and caring has been an overwhelming gift to Kristin, her children, her sister Karen, and the DeMaio and Nightingale families alike.
She will be deeply missed by her three beautiful children, Michael, Kailee and Taylor, who were the loves of her life and the source of all her strength and joy. In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn her loss her six brothers and sisters, Alan Nightingale and wife, Susan, of Deering, N.H., Kathy Trisciani and husband, John, of Manchester, N.H., Susan Picknell and (late husband), Frank Picknell, of New London, N.H., Karen Nightingale of Hampton, N.H., Kerriann Nightingale of Hampton, N.H., and Jonathan Nightingale and wife, Danielle, of Manchester, N.H.; mother-in-law, Barbara Ciancimino and husband, James, of Newington, Conn., father-in-law, Michael A. DeMaio and stepmother, Patricia Sullivan, of Windsor, Conn. She also leaves behind sister-in-law, Julie (DeMaio) Lucas and husband, Tom, of Madison, Conn., and brother-in-law, Paul DeMaio and wife, Ellzbieta, of Higganum, Conn., and friend, Scott Blasius of Norwalk, Conn., along with several nieces and nephews.
