Bernice A. (Adams) Baylock, 99, of Plainville, loving wife of the late George Baylock, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Vielakas) Adams, she graduated from New Britain High School in 1938 and raised her family in town before moving to Plainville 50 years ago. She retired from Holo-Krome in Elmwood after many years of employment. Bernice was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville. She also volunteered at Red Cross blood drives and belonged to the Plainville and Berlin Senior Centers where she loved to line dance and play cards with her friends. Her favorite pastime was bowling and she was an avid bowler for over 60 years in leagues in Plainville and New Britain. Her family was the most important thing to her and she was happiest when spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her loss her three children: James P. Baylock and his wife Anne. C., Debra Thomas and her husband Mark, and George Baylock and his wife Jane; her grandchildren: James Baylock and his fiancée Beth, Lori Tomkiewicz and her husband Robert, Sara McGrimley and her husband Thomas, Craig Thomas and his wife Naomi, Stephanie Sastri and her husband Adam, and Russell Baylock; her 5 great grandchildren: Taylor, Brooke, Jake, Lilah and Benjamin. She also leaves her three close friends: Shirley, Simone and Teri.

Bernice’s funeral will begin on Thursday, March 15, at 9:15 a.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St. New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St. Plainville. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain immediately following the Mass. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Burritt Hill from 8:15-9:15 a.m. on Thursday.
