Stanley W. Lesinski, 101, of New Britain, died peacefully in the company of his family on Tuesday evening, May 15 after a period of declining health at the end of a long and meaningful life.

He was born in Easthampton, Mass., on March 25, 1917, the first child of Stanislaw and Leokadia (Berk) Lesinski. His parents moved the family back to their native village of Jednorozec, Poland, in 1922 where Stanley lived out his youth. Having lost both parents by the age of 21, he became the head of the household and succeeded raising his five younger siblings and running the family farm, even through the days of the German occupation during World War II.

On May 5, 1945, he married Czeslawa (Celia) Chudzik also of Jednorozec. Their first daughter, Anna was born a year later. In 1947, Stanley returned to the U.S. and settled in Manchester, Conn., where his wife and daughter joined him after over a year of awaiting passage. They welcomed their second daughter Christine four years later.

He and Czeslawa raised their family in the greater Hartford area – Manchester, Hartford, West Hartford, and Newington; he moved to New Britain, in 2006. All through his many years, however, his heart belonged to his beloved Jednorozec. He worked most recently at Wiremold Company, retiring in 1983. In their retirement, Stanley and his wife traveled back to Poland several times and also visited the Holy Land. He and his wife were very active in Holy Cross Church, volunteering during the annual Bazaar. Stanley also served as an offertory collector during weekly Mass for many years. He was also a proud member of Polish National Alliance.

He was predeceased by Czeslawa in 2003, his daughter, Anna in 2014, his brother, Henry in 2016, his brother, Marian and sister, Genowefa in Poland.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine Lesinski and her husband, John Lussier of Vt., a brother, Kazimierz Lesinski and wife, Bronislawa and a sister, Jadwiga Krajewska. He also leaves behind four adoring grandchildren, Christopher Figat and his wife, Subrina, Stasia Rivera and her husband, Alex, Joanna Cistulli and her husband, Patrick and Paul Figat and his special friend, Vanessa Pileggi; four great-granddaughters Veronica Rivera, Celina Cistulli, Lilianna Cistulli and Avianna Figat, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family here and in Poland.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, May 18, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Funeral services will begin Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by his Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
