Orson “Roy” Rothkopf, 72, of Washington, Mass., and New Britain, Conn., peacefully passed away in the early morning of May 25, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Dianne (Rubenstein) Rothkopf, for 50 Years. He was born in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Paul and Toby Rothkopf of New Britain. He was a 1964 graduate of New Britain High School.
For more than 50 years, Orson and Dianne have been the owners of IMPERIAL TROPHY AND CITY LUGGAGE in downtown New Britain. He was a member of Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, Conn. He was a Freemason member at the New Britain Unity Lodge # 148. He was also a New Britain Lions Club member and a Commissioner of the New Britain Downtown District. He was a member of the New Britain High School Class of 1964, Alumni Association. He was the president of the Irv Black Track and Field Invitational.
Orson and Dianne raised three children, son, F. David Rothkopf and his wife, Francine of Ashland, Mass., daughter, Laura Rothkopf and her fiancé, Travis Woodward of Southington, Conn.; and proceded in death by his son, Larry Rothkopf. He is survived by his grandchildren, Samuel, Micah, and Sofia Rothkopf and Lilien and Briella Woodward, niece, Heather Wagner and her husband, Peter and their sons, Alex and Ian, his many cousins, extended family, his Mason brothers and his many many good friends.
He enjoyed going to his house in the Berkshires and seeing concerts at Tanglewood. He liked watching boxing and his beloved New York Yankees. He liked talking to his many friends who visited him at “The Store.” Orson was beloved by all, and will be sorely missed by the community.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Beth Alom Cemetery, on 48 Allen St., in New Britain, Conn. After interment, there will be a reception at the Masonic Temple, 10 Mason Drive, in New Britain. Shiva will be held at 1536 Stanley St., in New Britain, driveway and parking on Francis St., all day on Monday and Tuesday, with services at 8 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday only, at 8 p.m. Shiva will also be held at his son’s home in Mass. on Wednesday thru Friday.
