Karl R. Kohl, 73, of Port Orange, Fla., passed away on July 20, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. He leaves a son, Kevin Kohl, a resident of Port Orange, Fla., a sister, Mitzi Kohl and a brother, Frank and his family, all living in Southington, Conn. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ashley.
Karl was born in New Britain, to Frank and Mary Kohl, part owners of the Delight Bakery. He worked as an engineer for the city of New Britain, for 20 years before moving to Florida, where he worked for the City of Daytona Beach, also as an engineer for 20 years.
Karl was an avid camper and prior to settling in Florida, he and his family drove cross-country to California and back, camping at National Parks and beaches, which were among his favorite past times.
Karl’s favorite charities were the Humane Society of Daytona Beach and the National Park Foundation. Gifts may be made in his name.
