Jean (Peterson) Muangman, 72, a longtime resident of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Pongsa-Pyn Muangman M.D., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. She was born in New Britain, Conn., the daughter of the late Norman H. Peterson and Dorothy C. Peterson. She attended Berlin High School and graduated in 1963.

Afterward, she went on to graduate in 1966 from New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing where she began her career in Intensive Care Nursing. In 1969, she married the love of her life Pong and they began to create the big family she always wanted. She took pride in her children and always pushed them to strive for the best. She created perfection (knitting, crocheting, crafting, sewing, and even wedding planning) with everything she put her mind to. She also had a joy for singing, laughing, fashion, decorating, traveling and antiquing.

A beloved mother and grandmother (also known as "Mimi"), Jean is survived by her husband, Pong, five children and 13 grandchildren, Scott and Lauren Muangman of Mclean, Va., and their children Lindsay, Logan and Lucas, Steven and Darcie Muangman of Vancouver, Canada, and their children, Kai and Tristan, Susan and Ryan Burr of Orlando, Fla., and their children, Taylor, Caden and Dustin, Sarah and Rohit Agarwal of Atlanta, Ga., and their children, Samaya and Neha, and Stacey and Xander van der Wulp of the Netherlands, and their children, Sienna, Ava and Bella. She is also survived by her brother, George N. Peterson and his wife, Linda of Lancaster, Penn.

She will be missed dearly by her family as they cherish the fond memories they have shared with her. Family and friends are invited to come and gather at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, Conn., on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, from 10 to 11 a.m. A service in celebration of Jean's life will begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The National Kidney Foundation ( ).
