Ann "Nina" (Giattino) Tarca, 93, of New Britain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Aug. 29, 2018. She was born in New Britain, a daughter of the late Luca and Pasqua (LaRosa) Giattino and was a lifelong resident. Ann was a long time active member of the Divine Providence Roman Catholic Church (St. Joseph) and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time at the beach in Old Lyme, cooking, sewing, playing cards, a good lobster dinner, lunch with friends and an occasional trip to the casino.
Most of all, she loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving presence, warm smile, kind spirit and generosity. Ann is survived by her loving and devoted children, John Tarca of Stamford, Peter Tarca and his wife, Maureen of Concord, Mass., James Tarca and his wife, Lynelle of Kensington, Louis Tarca of New Britain, and JoAnn Doyle and her husband, Jack of Cromwell, nine treasured grandchildren, three cherished great-grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Peter Tarca, her sisters, Mary Perretta, Angie McKay and her brother, Leo Giattino. Funeral services will be Wednesday Sept. 5 at 9 a.m. at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at Divine Providence Roman Catholic Church (St. Joseph), 195 South Main St. Burial at a later date is private. Visiting hours are Tuesday Sept. 4 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
