John “J” James Barry III, 63, of New Britain, died on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018. He was the son of the late John J. Barry, Jr. and Dorothy (Malikowski).
J valued his gift of life. He never focused on structured activities or being set to a schedule; he preferred living life at his own pace and doing things his own way. He was grateful for his family and treasured every moment spent with them. He loved to laugh and joke around and enjoyed playing golf (as long as he was playing well) with his dad and son as well as with his co-workers from UConn. Frequent trips down the Farmington River to camp and fish were times that he cherished with his son and former wife, Tina. J was a motorcycle enthusiast. He reminisced about the rides he used to take on his Harley Davidson Panhead and all the diverse people he met along the way. J’s favorite pastime was watching cowboy movies starring John Wayne or Clint Eastwood and he knew the plot and most of the script of every “Bonanza” episode. J, you will be missed but never forgotten.
John is survived by his son, John J. Barry, IV; his sister, Kathleen Mitchell; Tina, his former wife; and his four nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of John’s life on what would have been his 64th birthday - Friday, Oct. 12, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain.
