Zdenka Chrapek, 91, of Berlin, widow of Vincent Chrapek, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Josef and Maria (Rusnak) Pavelka. Zdenka lived and raised her family in Berlin for over 60 years. She was very health conscious, exercising every day and active in her community. She belonged to many clubs and associations including, Kensington Garden Club, Berlin Art League, Ladies Auxiliary for the New Britain Memorial Hospital where she was a past president, and Timberlin Lady Niners Golf League. An active member of St. Paul’s Church, she was a member of their Ladies Guild. Zdenka was an avid artist, golfer and bowler. She was sensitive, loving and kind to all, in addition to being a strong woman with great inner strength. She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Karen Chrapek and Robert Lemoine of Ormond Beach, Fla., Denise and Robert Turner of Berlin, and Susan and Jerome Hudak of Pittsfield, Mass.; her sister, Emily Huggins of Roswell, N.M.; her brother in law, Henry DePietro of Hauppauge, N.Y., her beloved grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Zdenka was predeceased by her husband, Vincent, five loving sisters-in-law and four brothers-in law. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul’s Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain.
