Erhard Friedrich Eduard (Ed) Stolting, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Masonic Home.
He was born in Hoerste, Germany, Jan. 24, 1935, to the late Gustaf and Else (Schlepper) Stoelting (Stolting), eighth of 10 children.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Roger Stolting of Meriden, Angela Stolting of Florida, and Kenneth Stolting of Wallingford, grandchildren, Jesse Stolting, Amy (Stolting) Greene, Shannon Stolting, Marisa Stolting, Emily (Stolting) Marshall, Amber (Russell) Sabatucci, Joshua Russell, Kyle Stolting, and several great-grandchildren.
Growing up he had been an avid soccer player, playing club ball before and during his training tenure in plumbing, heating and sheet metal. He attending trade school in Detmold Germany and apprenticed with a local contractor in the same area. His favorite pastime was spending time with friends and fishing in his later years.
Erhard emigrated to New Britain, Conn., in 1961 via Canada on a resident work visa as a plumbing and heating installer/technician. Over his career, he worked for several mechanical, plumbing, heating and cooling companies where he did everything from being a tech to running large mechanical HVAC/plumbing divisions. He closed his career running his own plumbing and HVAC business for several years before retiring approximately nine years ago.
He touched many a life with his knowledge of the industry and was always ready and willing to help those in need within the industry as well as outside. A Private family gathering will be held at a later date.
