Robert Buxton Harris, 91, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Celia (Guzauckas) Harris for 64 years. Born in Kiddeminster, England, son of the late Robert and Beatrice (Bullingham) Harris, he came to the United States at an early age and was raised in Kensington prior to moving to New Britain over 50 years ago. He honorably served his country as a “Tin Can Sailor” in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Robert was a member of St. Andrew’s Church, New Britain, and retired from Traveler’s Insurance Company after many years of employment.

A “perfect person” as described by his wife, Robert also leaves his three children, Deborah Harris of New Britain, Robert J. Harris and his wife, Lori of Leland, N.C., and Mark Harris and his wife, Linda of Newington, and his granddaughter, Mya Harris of Leland, N.C. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Wells.

His funeral service will begin on Monday, Nov. 12 at 8:45 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, New Britain. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
