Brittany Kay Vellucci, age 30, of Wolcott, Conn., passed away Saturday Nov. 3, 2018, at home, surrounded by her family.

Brittany was born Oct. 19, 1988, in California to Robert and Sharon Ralston. She grew up in Minnesota where she graduated from Spring Lake Park High School. After moving from Minnesota to Connecticut to be with her soulmate Joe, Brittany began working as a nurse tech at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She furthered her education at Goodwin College and graduated with honors as a Registered Nurse in December 2016.

January 1, 2017, Brittany was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma. She underwent two surgeries to remove as much of the tumor as possible. In between the two major brain surgeries, Brittany passed her nursing certification exam. Brittany then began cycles of chemo and radiation while still keeping her main focus of becoming a nurse in mind. Once radiation was done and Brittany was cleared by her doctors, she was able to start her career as a nurse where she excelled in great part due to her determination, heart, and genuine desire to help others.

Brittany loved caring for others, going on hikes, fishing, spending time at the beach, relaxing at the camp ground with her family in Minnesota, was an expert at finding the best ice cream no matter where she was, attending concerts, visiting new breweries, and overall just enjoying life to the fullest with a contagious smile on her face.

Brittany is survived by her husband Joe, parents, Bob and Sharon Ralston of Minnesota, brother, Travis Gibbs of Minnesota; in laws, Ray and Donna Vellucci of Florida; sister in law and husband, Kristina and Corey Lewis of Florida; grandmothers, Kay Ralston of Wisconsin and MaryAnn Duncan of California; grandparents Wayne and Sharon Guenther of New York, Victor and Virginia Vellucci of Florida, and John and Corrine Watts of Connecticut. She was also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved her dearly, as well as her two kitties, Mittens and Buster.

Brittany is also survived by childhood friends in Minnesota as well as many friends in and around Connecticut, who in great part were met through the craft beer community.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018. 12-2 p.m. at Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
