Sophia Rapacka Bloch Linn

Sophia Rapacka Bloch Linn of Newington, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2018, with her daughter, Cynthia, at her side. She was the daughter of the late Dominic and Wladyslawa Rapacka. She was predeceased by her first husband, “the love of her life,” Edward Bloch and her second husband, Clifford Linn. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Jenny Mische Mabe, Marion Wieczorek, and Jane Sidlik.

Sophia graduated from New Britain High School and was employed by Pratt & Whitney and retired from Fafnir now Textron. She was an avid knitter and quilter. Her summer passion was gardening and sitting on her back patio. All her friends marveled at her flowers. Her special companion was her pet cat, Precious. Sophia was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington, and was a former member and officer of the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Jack Zele of Florida; three grandchildren, Adam Zele and his wife, Virginia, Gregory Zele, and Amy Hollinger and her husband, Randy, eight great-grandchildren, Anastasia and Joshua Zele, Katherine, Casey and Patrick Zele, Jack, David, and Sophia Hollinger, her niece, BarbaraJane, several nephews and three great-nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St., Newington. Sophia will be laid to rest with her late husband, Edward, in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours.
